International Environmental Associates employs
the highest standards for the development and hosting of regAction.com
to provide you with the assurance that your data will be safe,
secure and accessible to you at all times.
SECURITY
RegAction™ is specifically designed
with security in mind. Only individuals with the correct username
and password are allowed into the website. The user has three
attempts before being locked out for 20 minutes. Should the user
leave his desk for more than 20 minutes, the user will be required
to log back on. This prevents unauthorized individuals using an
authorized user's account. To avoid individuals trying to circumvent
the logon web page, the user must have logged onto the website
before viewing any web pages in the secure area.
The regAction site is protected by a firewall
and by using secure socket layer (SSL). RegAction uses Watchguard's
hardware security devices for its firewall, which blocks all unwarranted
traffic. Secondly, regAction employs 128-Bit encryption from VeriSign
and is a VeriSign Secured Site
RegAction web servers are clustered to
insure a high availability status for the users. This insures that if
the primary server should fail the secondary server takes over. Even
the Watchguard hardware is set up for a high availability status to
ensure that the firewall is continuously operating. Each piece of hardware
employed by RegAction is connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply
(UPS) that provides 20-30 minutes of backup energy in case of power
disruption.
All regAction.com Internet servers are located
and maintained at IEA's corporate offices providing immediate service
and support.
DATA BACKUP
RegAction™ utilizes MS SQL Server as the database
engine to store, save and backup data used by regAction. A differential
backup of data is made daily and a complete backup is conducted at the
end of the week.
To ensure data redundancy in case of a catastrophic
failure of the site (i.e. fire or water damage), the data is sent to
an off-site location. Two Watchguard devices are connected creating
a Virtual Private Network (VPN). These two devices are set up to pass
the encrypted data between each device through the Internet. This ensures
that the data is continually secure from unwarranted individuals.
DATA REDUNDANCY
Data redundancy for regAction.com is extremely
important. All regAction data is stored on a Compaq ProLiant Storage
System RSO/U in a RAID 5 w/online spare configuration. Therefore, in
the event of a hard drive failure, the online spare will automatically
come online to continue the RAID 5 redundancy.
Redundancy is also maintained on each of
the Compaq ProLiant web servers. Each web server employs
the RAID 5 w/online spare configuration. This is beneficial during data
backup because each web server also stores the backup information. Should
one of the web servers fail, the other server will immediately take
over the process of backing up data to its hard drives.
